Management Services
The management and
operation of a chlor-alkali plant require skills that frequently go
beyond the typical scope of supply of an engineering and construction
company. Not only does the plant manager have to bring capital projects
online within the allowed time and on budget, but they must also operate
the system:
- to produce the necessary quantity and quality of the product at
a competitive cost;
- in compliance with the environmental requirements;
- in a safe and responsible manner;
- while avoiding any security problems that may threaten both the
plant employees and the community in which the plant is located.
This is a tall order.
Because of the unique
management and operational background of Universal Dynamics, we offer
services in many of these areas. A series of links are displayed below
that will lead the reader to additional information on each topic.
- Production Optimization: Often it is necessary to step back
a bit from the day-to-day pressures to evaluate the strategic position
of the plant in relation to the market and the competition. Feasibility
studies, both domestically and internationally,
have been a strategic offering of Universal Dynamics for many years.
Studies focused on the optimization of production opportunities in
Azerbaijan and Poland in association with the US Trade and Economic
Development Agency; in the Canadian Maritimes in association with
the Atlantic Canada Development Agency; in Latin America for one of
the largest private corporations in Mexico; and throughout the United
States and Canada.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance: Responsible plant operation
in terms of environmental compliance and injury reduction is a mandate
for every facility. In the United States, OSHA's
Process Safety Management and the EPA's Risk Management Program
has been law for many years. In many other parts of the world, the
ACC's Responsible Care program has similar goals. Universal Dynamics
has been offering safety audits
and environmental compliance
options and programs for many decades. This effort includes developing
some innovative methods of achieving a reduction in emissions such
as our patented REMERC Process
and the design of an innovative HCl burner without using hydrogen
gas as a feedstock.
- Security: The lessons of September 11th were painful. The
potential for an intentional attack that would release hazardous materials
into a community must now be seriously considered. Universal Dynamics
personnel is trained and qualified to perform Security Vulnerability
Analyses using the recognized CCPS SVA Methodology. Our deep experience
in operational matters makes us uniquely capable of seeing the potential
threats quickly and developing cost-effective solutions to the risks
identified.
