Used Equipment

For the past several years, Universal Dynamics has informally helped customers obtain low cost, used equipment to replace failed equipment or to increase production capacity. Our services have included locating equipment that meets our customer's needs, negotiating the equipment purchase, removing and shipping the equipment to our customer's site, refurbishing the equipment to meet our customer's specifications and installing the equipment in their production process. The cost of used equipment is typically $0.10 to $0.25 per $1.00 of the comparable new equipment cost. Often however, delivery time, not low cost, is the most important motivation for our customers' interest in used equipment. When a key piece of equipment unexpectedly fails and shuts down the production process, the difference in delivery time of weeks for used equipment versus months for new equipment can be quite compelling.

Following are several examples of used equipment that Universal Dynamics has helped customers find, refurbish and install.

Fifty chlorine rail cars for a chlorine manufacturer interested in low cost rail cars to replace leased cars.

Two 70 kA transformers/rectifiers with recirculated cooling water systems and harmonic control systems to replace several smaller units with out-of-date control systems.

One 70 kA transformer/rectifier was rebuilt to replace a failing unit at a chlorine manufacturing plant. Universal Dynamics was able to obtain and modify the transformer/rectifier in a short period of time compared to the purchase of a new unit and at a cost of about fifty percent of a new unit.

Six multi media sand filters to provide additional process water treatment at a chemical plant in Mexico.

Numerous pumps and motors for water and chemical handling in the chemical industry.

Two chlorine coolers for improving the efficiency of chlorine liquefaction at a chlorine manufacturer in Mexico.

Four 13.8 kV circuit breakers to connect incoming power to four plant transformers.

Two precoat pressure filters and ancillary equipment for chemical filtration in the chemical industry.

A complete hydrochloric acid synthesis plant to expand the hydrochloric acid production at one of our customer's plants.

A complete brine treatment system including chemical mix tanks clarifiers and sand filters plus a multiple effect caustic evaporator to expand the capacity of an east coast chlorine manufacturer.
