Universal Dynamics Receives Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) 1999 University-Industry Synergy R&D Partnership Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:   August 11, 1999

VANCOUVER, BC – The University of British Columbia and Universal Dynamics, a leading supplier of high-technology products and engineering services to industry worldwide, are winners of the NSERC 1999 University-Industry Synergy R&D Partnership Award. The award is for the development of Universal Dynamics’ BrainWave® industrial process controller.

BrainWave® was developed and commercialized by Universal Dynamics in cooperation with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of British Columbia. The BrainWave® controller is based on control theory conceived by Professor Guy Dumont and formulated by his graduate student, Dr. Christos Zervos. Using the basic theoretical work of Drs. Dumont and Zervos, Universal Dynamics applied its industrial process control experience to develop, patent and commercialize a revolutionary process control product. This cooperative development established a strong relationship between the University of British Columbia and Universal Dynamics. This relationship continues and has led to further development projects in other areas of process control.

BrainWave® is the world’s leading regulatory controller. Its ease-of-use allows control engineers to readily apply advanced control strategies which, with conventional technology, are simply too difficult and costly to implement.

Universal Dynamics is dedicated to improving the productivity of their customers' operations by the application of advanced technology products, systems and services.
