Town board to meet
The regular town board meeting of the town of Glen is scheduled for Monday, and will begin at 6 p.m. at town hall.
Following the board meeting, an appreciation reception for former elected officials will be held. All current and former elected officials are encouraged to attend.
Village trash day announced
The village of St. Johnsville will hold its village trash day Thursday, May 22. Village residents are asked to not place anything curb side until Wednesday evening, May 21. Property owners who place items by the curb prior to Wednesday, will be asked to remove it. Residents of the village are also asked not to confuse the town of St. Johnsville cleanup days, with those of the village.
Water, sewer bills mailed
BROADALBIN The May 2008, water/sewer bills were mailed Thursday, May 1, and are currently payable. Included in the mailing is the biannual newsletter which provides general news from the village. Also included is the village's annual drinking water quality report, which is required by federal regulations. Extra copies of the report are available at the village clerk's office.
Customers who are not responsible for payment of the water bill are encouraged to pick up a copy at the clerk's office or call and request that a copy be mailed to them.
Water/sewer rents may be mailed to the village clerk's office, P.O. Box 6, Broadalbin, N.Y., 12025, or paid in person at the village municipal building, located at 16 West Main St., during regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. A mail slot is provided for anyone wishing to leave a payment outside of hours. Payments must be received or postmarked by May 31 to avoid the 20 percent late penalty.
Any customer who has not received a bill by now should contact the village clerk's office as soon as possible.
Bleecker, Fulton County Department of Solid Waste to sponsor cleanup program
The town of Bleecker and Fulton County Department of Solid Waste will co-sponsor a spring municipal drop-off cleanup program Saturday and Sunday, behind the town barn, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
Town residents only will be allowed to dispose of old furniture, appliances, garage and attic cleanup projects, and do-it-yourself home improvement project materials such as siding, shingles and lumber. A maximum of four tires per person, per day, will be accepted, and they must be off the rim.
The program is not available to commercial haulers, businesses or institutions. Old appliances will be placed separately from garbage, as old stoves, refrigerators, freezers etc., are recycled. Bulky metals should be placed in containers, while refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers should be placed separately. The Department of Solid Waste is asking residents to take off the doors on refrigerators and freezers before bringing them to this program, and remove any food products.
The following items are not acceptable for this program: vehicle batteries, paint, motor oil, propane tanks, curbside recyclables or regular weekly trash.
Residents are reminded of two upcoming alternate disposal programs household hazardous waste collection, Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Department of Solid Waste, Mud Road, Johnstown, and the latex paint exchange, which will run on Saturday mornings June to August, also at the department.
